To forget a Wi‑Fi network on iPad, open Settings > Wi‑Fi, tap the information button next to the network, choose Forget This Network, and confirm. Use this for an old, shared, public, or incorrectly configured network that you do not want the iPad to join automatically. The iPad removes the network’s saved password and automatic-join preference, but it does not delete apps, photos, files, or your Apple Account. Keep the Wi‑Fi password if you might reconnect later.

## What you need before you forget the network

Before you start, make sure you have:

- An unlocked iPad with access to the Settings app.
- The iPad connected to the network you want to remove, or close enough to detect it. Being connected is especially useful when you are forgetting the network currently in use.
- The Wi‑Fi password if you might reconnect later. Forgetting the network removes the saved password, so the iPad will ask for it again.

You do not need to delete your Apple Account or remove the iPad from your account. Forgetting a Wi‑Fi network changes a local network setting only.

## How to forget the Wi-Fi network your iPad is using

Use these steps when the iPad is currently connected to the network you want to remove.

1. Open `Settings`.
2. Tap `Wi‑Fi`.
3. Find the network with a checkmark. That is the network the iPad is using.
4. Tap the information button next to the network name. It appears as a lowercase `i` inside a circle.
5. Tap `Forget This Network`.
6. Tap `Forget` to confirm.

The iPad disconnects from the network and removes its saved login details and automatic-join setting. If Wi‑Fi remains on, the iPad can show other available networks, but it will not automatically join the network you just forgot.

## How to remove another saved network from the list

You can forget a saved network that the iPad is not currently using. Depending on your iPadOS version, it might appear under a section such as `My Networks`.

1. Open `Settings`.
2. Tap `Wi‑Fi`.
3. Locate the saved network you want to remove.
4. Tap the information button next to its name.
5. Tap `Forget This Network`.
6. Tap `Forget` to confirm.

On some iPadOS versions, the iPad must be within range of the network before `Forget This Network` appears. If the option is missing because the network is not nearby, move within range, open the network’s information screen again, and check for the option. The iPad may need to detect the network before it shows all of that network’s controls.

## What changes after you forget it—and how to reconnect

Forgetting a network removes its saved Wi‑Fi password and the iPad’s preference to join it automatically. It does not erase personal data, remove apps or files, delete other saved networks, change your Apple Account, or alter the router itself.

To reconnect later:

1. Open `Settings` and tap `Wi‑Fi`.
2. Tap the network name under the available networks.
3. Enter the Wi‑Fi password when prompted.
4. Tap `Join`.

The iPad saves the network again after you join it, so it can automatically reconnect in the future unless you turn off `Auto-Join` for that network. To stop automatic joining while keeping the network saved, open its information screen and turn off `Auto-Join` instead of forgetting the network.

You know the forget operation worked when the iPad disconnects from that network and no longer joins it automatically. If you reconnect, the iPad will ask for the password again.

## If you cannot find “Forget This Network”

The option normally appears on the information screen for a network the iPad can identify. If it is missing or unavailable, check these possibilities:

- The iPad is not connected to the network and is not close enough to detect it. Move near the network, open Settings > Wi‑Fi, and try again.
- You opened the information screen for a network that is no longer available. iPadOS versions differ in how they display saved networks that are out of range.
- The iPad is supervised or managed by a school, employer, or other organization. A configuration profile or restriction may control Wi‑Fi settings. The administrator may need to remove the network or change the policy.
- The network is being restored through a management profile or another device-management service. Forgetting it manually may not permanently remove it if the profile adds it again.

If the iPad keeps reconnecting after you forget the network, first check that you forgot the correct network name; nearby networks can have similar names. Then check whether a management profile is reinstalling the network. Restarting the iPad can refresh the Wi‑Fi list, but it does not replace the forget step.

`Reset Network Settings` is a much broader last resort, not a faster way to forget one network. It removes all saved Wi‑Fi networks and passwords, along with cellular-related network settings and saved VPN and APN settings. You will need to re-enter Wi‑Fi passwords and may need to configure network services again. It does not erase apps, photos, documents, or other personal content, but it affects every network connection on the iPad. Use it only when you intend to clear those settings, and make sure you have the passwords and configuration details you need before confirming the reset.

## Conclusion

For one unwanted network, open Settings > Wi‑Fi, tap its information button, and choose Forget This Network. The iPad should disconnect and stop joining that network automatically; to connect again, select it and enter the password. If the option is missing, bring the iPad within range or check for organizational management. Do not use Reset Network Settings unless you intend to remove connection settings for every network.
